the vision

Hope Takes Flight is a multinational social justice media collective.

We are film makers, we are musicians, we are photographers, we are artists and designers. We are fathers and mothers.

We tell the stories of those who have been rendered silent by the hands of oppression. We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

India 2008
On July 16-29 we will embark on a journey through the heart of India. We will touch down in Delhi, make our way east to Kolkata and then journey west to Mumbai from which we will return to the United States. We will be connecting with several communities who are working with local authorities to give freedom to the women and children bound by the chains of slavery, establishing them in appropriate aftercare. We will document the story of our journey as we go, giving voice to the stories that have gone untold.

Upon our return, we will produce this footage into a full format social justice documentary film. The film will not be focused on the statistics, horrendous stories of abuse, and guilt inflicting realities of those who visit these brothels. Instead, we will be focusing on the beauty, the destinies, and gifts within this community. We will give a name, a laugh, a voice to those who have been rendered silent for too long. We want to speak over these children an identity that shatters the lies of statistics.

Once back in the States, we will engage the hearts of fathers and mothers to stand and fight for these children out of love and compassion and not from guilt or manipulation. We feel that a man or woman who is compelled by guilt will give just enough of themselves toward a cause to appease their conscience, but a father or mother whose heart is stirred with compassion will rise up and make a lifelong stand for justice.
